In 2019, I was in Portugal with my wife. We visited friends, strolled through Lisbon, Porto, Sintra, Coimbra, and the wonders of Portugal. I wrote this poem on the napkins of Café Martinho da Arcada (Fernando Pessoa's favorite), with my eyes fixed on the Tagus River.
Poem Saudades (a deep emotional state of nostalgic longing)
I Saudades are read verses. Forgotten words. Remembered along the paths. Of past dreams. That the soul brings back.
II Saudades are lost loves. Forgotten. Returns in the wheel of time. Where nothing was lost. It was reborn. It returned.
III Saudades are sorrows. Of what can no longer be done. Of victories won or not. Of aimless comings and goings.Of imprisoned feelings.
IV Saudades are bonds. Of past promises, Times, friends, loves. That left forgotten. And returned remembered.
