In Lisbon, I liked to wake up early and started paying attention to my first thought of the day, which allowed me to write this essay.
Essay "First Thought of the Day"
People, upon waking up, have a first thought. Recalling events that touched them deeply. Like the first love, the birth of a child, a received kiss, a scored goal, or, who knows, an unexpected encounter. If you ask them what that first thought was, they won't remember. They are preoccupied with life, work, children, money, or something that is suffocating them
I will tell you a secret. I started paying attention to my first thought of the day. The one that suddenly appears as soon as you wake up. You open your eyes and it appears. What a disappointment. I realized that this first thought wasn't mine. What a satisfaction. It was from God. Yes, from God Himself.
My first thought was a simple message I heard every day from God. I wake up and God whispers softly in my ear: "You have all the time in the world." Then He goes away, leaving me to reflect on what I heard. I interpreted it this way: Peace and happiness had anchored in my harbor. I didn't need to rush, for the paths were laid out. I no longer needed to try to save the world and everyone around me.
God had taken on this duty and freed me from all this work. Not that I didn't like it, but He no longer wants me in it. He wants me to wake up free from everything. Smiling, playing, dreaming of the future, happy. To project dreams, dare to go further. For now, all the time in the world is waiting for me. I can do whatever I want. Without worrying.
Just like me. Pay attention to the first thought of the day. I might be wrong, but it will be a message from God. Different from mine, with a special meaning just for you. A secret that only God knows to make you happy. Who knows, it might give you all the peace in the world or all the love in the world. Like me, who knows, you might gain all the time in the world. Only you will know this if you are very close to God.
